If you're like me, you love to look at house designs and dream. Imagine the fun I have designing them. We all want something better and new, something that fits our life style, needs and values. We traditionally design houses that reflect the styles found in New England and Atlantic Canada. Each building type or style has a language of their own. For instance, the Craftsman style is easily defined. Understanding a buildings language determines the detail associated with it and therefore improves our ability to create. A clients requirements always dictates the floor layout which becomes unique to their design. I always like to make the exterior unique giving the facade individualality. Perhaps its time you gave some thought to building a new home.

 NEWS

The Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations have been updated. Under subsection 10.3.2 in the Building Code, the Thermal Insulation for Buildings of Residential Occupancy now has a new minimum requirement for thermal resistance of insulation. In short the insulation value has been increased so that exterior walls are now R24, foundation walls R20, under concrete slabs R10 and attic insulation remains at R40. All these changes make for a more energy efficient home.
